Weight and Heart Failure?

i am 52 andI was diagnosed 13 months ago and since then put on one and a half stone could the drugs i am taking cause this ?
Has this happened to any one else with heart failure.
My doctor says she does'nt think so but i have read beta blockers can cause weight gain

yes,Maybe the others people!but that i cause of diabetes so your stomach if you don't eat fresh food your body will have HIV/AIDS

I suggest you take your Dr's word for it or ask another Dr.
Dont get your answers from the net or you will be convinced you have leprosy, rabies and dry rot by the end of the week.
Can I suggest moderate walking and a sensible diet?

I have had the opposite I lost 18lbs, I use more calories then I take in.
It is very hard for me to gain weight

Perhaps you are not being as active as before?

Having had 2 heart failures myself, the likely cause is water weight gain.

The heart is struggling a bit more since your heart failure to adequately pump blood, but is not as severe as cardiomyopathy, which is what I have.

The beta blockers do have side effects, and I encourage you to read your RX labels or search via Google or Yahoo for "side effects of beta blockers".

Also, you may want to eat foods that are considered natural diuretics, like fresh celery, cucumbers, and mushrooms.

Personally, I DID gain some weight after both heart failures, but whether or not the beta blockers were the sole cause is doubtful.

You may want to take CoQ supplements, as well as magnesium supplements, as depleted magnesium raises your blood pressure.

I have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and had 2 congestive heart failures after severe bouts of the flu.

Good luck, and continue taking your blood pressure meds, and drink water instead of any sodas or sugary drinks to help your body remove fluid retention.
