Left sided heart failure?

I'm writing a thesis on Left sided heart failure. Any good information resources I can look into?

look up words like preload afterload,..mitral valve regurge
cardio myopathy,...

the link below is for a medical encyclopedia, it will be a good place to start.

LHF is the exhaustion (failure) of the left ventricle to pump blood to aorta and to supply all the body.
so the cardiac output is decreased, the blood accumlates before the left ventricle(as the ventricle fails to pump it forwards to the body) , accumlates in lung and right ventricle (which may ends in RHF) and finally viens,so the body suffers anoxia and exhaustion due to decreased blood supply.
it can be caused by :
1-hypertension
2-severe anemia
3-heart attack
4-congenital anomaly in the heart
5-coarctation of aorta
6-atherosclerosis
it has variety of symptoms:
1-dyspnea
2-ankle edema leads to genralized edema(anasarca)
3-hepatosplenomegaly
4-exhaustion on exertion
5-pallor
6-anginal attacks
7-headache
8-attacks of cardiac asthma (pulmonary edema).
it is treated by medications which lower blood pressure and improve the cardiac pumping efficiency as:
1-digtalis
2-arteriodilators

Look up CHF (congested heart failure).
Pulmonary embolus will cause it too.
MI (miocardial infarct) Heart attack
Blunt force to the chest
Enlarged mediastinum
Pericardical effusion

Try WebMD.

Look up cardiovascular disease or try blocked valve. Try talking to someone at Mt Sinai or Toronto General they are all teaching hospitals.
