Is heart disease hereditary?/Is there any way i can help prevent, or delay heart failure.?

My family has a very long history of heart problems, and since the 1800's i cant think of one person in our family that HASNT died from some form of heart failure or other.

yes, most of the various heart diseases are hereditary. regular checkups would be good, plus balanced diet with minimum fat/cholesterol and exercise.
