What are the symptoms and treatment for chronic heart failure? |
I have already had quintuplet by pass surgery in 2003 and then had 5 stents placed in my heart in 2005. Recently I have had severe edema in my legs and my ankles and feet. I went to a few vascular surgeons and they said it was not any clots or blockages to my veins or a. They said my problems were most likely chronic heart failure. I am now on Lasix and weigh myself every day,but still feel bad. Any suggestions? If you are now on Lasix that will help you remove the excess fluids that is in your legs and ankles. One thing you have to do is to limit your fluid intake. Since you have chronic heart failure, your heart cannot tolerate too much fluid in the body. This will make you more ill. Excess fluid intake can also accumulate not only on your legs and ankles but also in the lungs which will make you breathless. Try to ascertain or ask your cardiologist how much fluid intake you are allowed per day. Short of breath. Excused from vigorous exercise. If serious, even mild. Can be energetic but lonesome. Hi there Your doctor may want to adjust your medications. Some people need to be on more than just Lasix, and you may need a higher dose of Lasix as well. There are things you can do at home -- such as propping up your legs to get the swelling down, or sleeping with your head propped up at night -- but really the best thing to do at this point is to get back to the doctor to see if your medications need to be adjusted.
