What could I teach a patient with left sided heart failure?....stumped student nurse?

yes i know the most obvious...i guess. I would just like a very simple teaching topic. She's older, cant walk, just had pacer put in.... any ideas? please (it [teaching topic]doesnt HAVE to do with her heart failure)

Diet, limitations, taking her meds even if she feels good, proper positions when resting, how to participate in her own care as much as possible

My grandma had a stroke and had to learn everything over, what helped her were childrens books showing items and their names, she is doing alot better now and very rarely forgets the name of something.

To value the life that God has left them with. God has a reason etc everything that he allows each of us to go through. It might be to allow more time to build a relationship with God.
Also the right diet along with some physical activity. Low salt, ect.... Jessica 12yrs old

If she has heart failure, obviously you can't make her do too much exercise or she will become short of breath. Will she be going back to a nursing home, or going back to a residential home? Teach her to do things that she will need to be able to do when she leaves hospital. Perhaps some activities of daily living (ADL) that would be useful to her such as how to take her proper medication at the right time, how to wash her face, brush her teeth, comb her hair, put on her clothes, get up from bed to a chair and vice versa, and perhaps stand up from a chair and vice versa, call for help, etc.
