My 3 month old daughter had a heart transplant jan 19th due to Congential heart defects ? about a certain med.

She is on 8 diffrent medications and her being so young, she takes everything liquid orally. Well they also have her on prevacid to prtect her little belly from the harsh medications, but everytime we give it to her, she ends up spitting it up or puking all of her medications up at once. Does anyone know of any altertatives to prevacid that works just as well for infants that has a better taste or any ideas on how to change the taste so she will take it instead of puking it up along with all her immunosuppresents.?

Ask the nurse and or the pharmacist for advise for different medication or different types of medication. The pharmacist may know a different company with a similar product but is digested or inserted differently or has a different taste. Sounds like your informed parents under difficult conditions.

i would give it at a different time than all her other meds, just on its own.

i would also check this with your doctor soon, to have him replace her prescription for a different drug.

oral suspensions can be altered by the pharmacist so i would also ask your pharmacist about different flavours.

check with the dr.
maybe too many meds all at once

Go to Marci-kids.com. They have information about a proton pump inhibitor (what prevacid is) that is a true suspension. It's called Zegerid. I don't think it has the un-disolvable pieces like prevacid (which is what makes my baby gag).
