Any ideas on heart palps? |
I've been having heart racing and irregular and beating out of my chest. I get very dizzy and weak and have hot flashes afterwards Not anxiety related. No chest pain. Normally heart is regular. Happens almost everyday. Went to doc today and HR was 50 and O2 sat about 97. BP was high for me 156/88. I am 26, slightly overweight, but am active. It will be a few months before an echo and halter heart monitor (prolly November). Any ideas as to what could be causing. Also, my doc prescribed me Toprol XL. History...son has severe congenital heart defects (HLHS and more). Other son born with murmur but that cleared up on own. No family history of heart probs. I'm just looking for some ideas. Thanks alot! The palps (as I call them) only last a few minutes. They always disappear on their own without any medication. I have never been told before of any abnormalities in my heart or rhythm. I had an EKG in Feb when I finally went to the dr. and it was normal. toprol is a slow release beta blocker that regulates your heart beat and also opens up the artery's so as to make the blood flow easier therefore reducing your blood pressure .it could be that you are under a lot of stress at times and you maybe experiencing panic attacks it seems that you may have a lot on your mind with your sons problems and dont get time to relax yourself ,just a thought take care and get well soon I have palpitations when I'm feeling sick...or changes in hormones (that time of the month!)...or stressed. I take Tenormin...have since I was 12 or so. I have WPW (Wikpedia has a good article on it)...& am being checked for mitrovalve prolapse. Do they stop on their own, or do you have to stop them with meds or other techniques? |
