I second the doctor suggestion, though seeing as how you correctly spelled that it seems naive to assume you haven't already.
And by the way, I wish you and your son the best of luck in health and otherwise...
try these journals: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query...

it may be hard to follow if you're not a medical professional, but trust me if you read enough you'll learn a lot more than you need to follow along.
=)

go see a doctor?

Obviously if he has been diagnosed with the condition, you know about it. Didnt the doctor tell you what to do about it or did you see Dr. Nic Riviera from The Simpsons?

Is this called a Atrial Spetal defect?
If so, it is usually a hole in the heart which can be repaired with surgery.
It can even be done without cracking the chest open and this is done by placing a tube through an artery and then deploying a small umbrella throught the whole. This closes up the hole and it is a very successful commonly performed procedure.

It sounds like you are referring to an atrial septal defect.

An Atrial Septal Defect (ASD)is a hole between the right and left parts of the heart called the atrium. It is separated by a membrane referred to as a septum. When the fetus is developing, the left and right side of the heart is open. Over time, the left and right side separate and the septum divides the two sides. However, sometimes, that membrane does not fully form by birth.

Depending on several factors, an ASD may or may not require surgical repair. If your son is still very young, it may just need time to mature and close on its own. If your son has symptoms due to the ASD, then he may require surgery sooner rather than later. All in all, there are many factors to consider since surgery is not without its risks.

For more information that is presented simply, check out the American Heart Association's website regarding this topic.

Also talk with your son's pediatrician further regarding this. If it is a problem, you may need a referral to see a pediatric cardiologist.

If this is Complete Atrio Ventricular Septal Defect, it is a lengthy operation which my son had done 6 years ago. I believe it has to be performed at the latests the age of about 3years.
The operation involves putting the child on the bypass machine whilst the holes are closed using a gauze like material and the valves which are missing are made if poss from the valves which are already there i.e. taking strips from the valve and making new valves.
If this is the op you are asking about please feel free to e-mail me with ANY questions you may have no matter how simple or stupid you think they sound. I've been there with those questions too.
Good Luck!

yes go to the neaest hospital and they'll give him treatment but hurry
