What Does A Heart Attack Feel Like?

What does it feel like when you have a heart attack? Some people say you smell burning toast just before, is that true? And does having a heart attack stemming from an eating disorder feel differently then a heart attack from like...whatever the normal reason for having a heart attack? Why do people have heart attacks? How would a doctor treat you after a heart attack?

That is A lot of questions and the truth is there is no "right " answer to your first qquestions. There are many different forms of "heart attacks" in fact heart attack isn't even a real medical term. But the common understanding of a "heart attack " or myocardial infartion is that heart muscle tissue has died due to a lack of profusion of oxygenated blood. This can happen for a wide varity of reasons and where this happens in the heart can also affect what the symptoms are like. Also who you are, age, race, GENDER, and other physical conditons ( like diabetes etc. ) can widely affect how a "heart attack" is felt or precieved. Many heart attacks have little to no syptoms and people suffer "sudden death " or do not know that they have had a heart attack and that there has been tissue death. The "classic" signs, are chest pain, poor pallor, sweting, nausea or vomitting, lightheadness, dizzy, left arm, or jaw pain... But again this is just a very basic template for the symptoms a heart attack can manifest
Asfor the eating disorder part.... Often people with eating disorders suffer heart arrythmias caused by metabolic problems ( lack of potassium and or sodium and or calcium although there are many others ) and those arrythmias can be deadly like ventricular tachycardia leading to ventricular firilation and then death. They often present as sudden death ( suddenl going into cardiac arrest ) Although long term eating disorders can cause tssue damage to the muscle of the heart itself

Generally the feeling of having a heart attack is chest pain, pain and or numbness in the left arm, difficulty breathing and such. Because of certain medical conditions these symptoms are not always apparent, such as a diabetic typically does not feel pain or numbness in the left arm.

The normal reasons for having a heart attack?

Poor health, over weight, heredity, eating lots of the "bad" foods.

there are lots of ways you could feel when having a heart attack. If you watch comercials you would see symptoms that would make you feel worry alot that you are having a heart attack. Thats because these symptoms are diverse and vauge between differnet patients. But I can share one with you.....

Your sleeping, sound asleep. Then all of a sudden somebody stabs you in the right side of your chest (near the center) with a 10" long ice pick, you jump out of bed and struggle to stand up, and although its hard and you feel like you gained 400 lbs, you mange to stand. The pain subsides a little, like the pick was pulled out. Its throbbing but you barley feel that because of the flames running down your throat and into both lungs each time you breeth.. burning you. You get into you car and drive to the hospital and by the time you get there the symptoms are gone, other then the throbbing which is slowly going away. Your kept over nite for observations and find out the next morning that your blood showed levels of something that indicates youve had a eart attack.
Your not overweight, you workout , your fairly young and never had health problems but your told that stress and that "Uncle" you have are prob why it was your turn.
Youve been lucky. Alot of people die from the first one...........
