Heart Attack? What is a "runaway heart" heart attack?

How does this happen?Could it happen if you were born with a hole in your heart? How many ways could this have happened? How long does it last?(minutes?) Does it hurt severely? fever? This a man having having the attack.45years

I'm really unsure what you are talking about. A friend of mine had runaway heart - but its not a heart attack. She had an extra electrical pathway in the heart that made her heart race. she lived with it for years. Finally they did some surgery and closed that electrical pathway. She is doing fine.

sounds bad. I'm sorry for him but sorry I dunno

If someone is having a heart attack, you need to get off the computer and call 911 IMMEDIATELY.

I don't know where you came up with the term "runaway heart", but there is no such thing. Maybe it's called something else? Something to do with irregular/high heart rate? If you have questions, you need to talk to your doctor/cardiologist.

By "runaway heart" they probably mean that his heart is beating way to fast. When this happens the coronary arteries (the arteries that supply blood to the heart) don't fill like they should and can cause a person to have a heart attack. Hopefully by slowing down the heart rhythm, the coronary arteries will be able to fill appropriately and blood supply will be returned to the heart. Hope this helps.

Question #1 & 2: You mean runaway heart beat. This is unsustained ventricuar tachycardia (UVT). Not a "heart attack" yet.

Question #3: Potential causes are a past heart attack that caused ventricular scarring, congenital heart disease, dilated cadiomyopathy or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, ARVD, a history of cardiac arrest, hypokalemia and the diet drug ephedra.

Question #4: No.

Question#5: See answer to Question #3.

Question #6: An episode can last longer than 3 minutes.

Question #7: There is chest pain that can be severe.

Question #8: No fever with UVT.
