Heart Attack HELP!!? |
my dad had 5 heart attacks, it seems like every year he gets one around this time. today he came home from work saying he had chest pains and it went through to his back which he know the feeling to be a heart attack but the pains went away about a half hour later. he saying it could have been gas but he is still worried about it. he wont go to the hospital because he says it is useless to go if he does not have pain because that machine that measures electrolyties or something like that(i dont know what it is exactly) will not work if he has no pain. should we take him to the hospital anyway, even though his pain stopped or should we wait until he has pain again?? He is talking about EKG which monitors the heart rate and shows what the heart is doing -- whether it is beating properly. He does need to have this episode checked out. He is probably quite frightened after having had five in the past, I know I would be. Does his doctor have him on nitroglycerine for chest pain. If he does, and if he has taken it according to the directions (one under the tongue, wait five minutes if he still has pain another one under the tongue, wait five minutes and if he stilll has pain repeat yet again. If the pain has not subsided in 15 minutes go to the hospital. So I would suggest he gets seen soon. take him! yes i would if he has had this many already you dont want to risk it...please take him... Yes, you should take him and leave now! When I had mine, a blood test of some kind was taken and it shows something (I don't remember all the technical stuff, a little busy at the time) in the blood that tells the doctor if you have had one. I doesn't go by measuring pain, etc. In fact, I never had any pain in my chest or arm. I am a female and had some back pain and some jaw pain. But the blood test is what was used to diagnose me! Make him go now! If he won't go and you are worried...call an ambulance. They can at least talk some sense into him. Madam, it's probably indigestion, my dad had that and we called 911 because he thought he was having a heart attack, turned out that he just ate too much food the night before (thanksgiving). |
