How long after a heart attack do you stop thinking every chest pain is another attack? |
Had a stint placed after a heart attack near two years ago after an allergic reaction caused the heart attack, complete respiratory failure and near a month in critical condition, I am 45 and still dealing with the thoughts of dying and every small muscle twinge being another heart attack ... Cardiologist says everything is PERFECT but does not seem to help. what you describe is common, you might benefit from some cognitive behavioral therapy. i think you should talk to your doctor about other symptoms that can be seen as a heart attack, like when the pain travels to your back and arm....its all about learning what pains can be troublesome Never First of all I want to tell you that I do care. I was lucky I had a 99% blockage but did not have a heart attack, I received a stent. Then three weeks later I started having a burning sensation in my chest back to surgery for another stent on a 80% blockage. That was almost three years ago, Iam better now but I still worry if I will have an attack. Just try and relax, I know it's hard, in fact I had the ER doctor to tell me I was behaving as a cardiac cripple because I had my first stent put in three before the second one so how could I be having chest burning. Trust your feeling. Hope you learn how to cope it takes time but honestly I don't think you really ever forget you just accept. God Bless you and good health to you |
