Hearing loss and constant ringing in the years after Tetracycline, can't sleep?

After being on Tetracycline for 2 mo for acne I have developed a ringing noise in the ears and my hearing loss has diminished. Ear specialist gave me prednisone, it helped the hearing for 5 days, but now both ringing and hearing loss are back. MRI showed something that looks like malformation of the gyri of the frontal lobe, but noone can tell whether my hearing problems are coming from that or from using Tetracycline. Did anyone have similar experiences? And most importantly, did the hearing improve for anyone? Please help. The noise follows me around sp that I can no longer sleep at night and no doctor has suggested any treatment except pain killers and relaxation. On top of that I have headaches and neck pain. I am a student in my early 20s. Please help if you have any info. Thank you.

You most likely have an ailment called Tinnitus which has been linked to Tetracycline and other types of drugs. There are a wide variety of things that, in conjunction with your medication, could have caused your hearing issues. Your condition might require surgery, medication or may go away on it's own. You should definitely consult an ear specialist.

Oh my, get thee to another Dr. right away. The ringing in ears and hearing loss is an adverse side affect of the Tetra. It is also is not good to take Prednisone, a steroid used for inflammation, long term. If the Pred. didn't help, then you need to seek out another Dr. opinion now. Also, if you don't get answers about the MRI problem, see a neurologist! Then, find a good dermatologist for your acne. People, take an active role in your health care!!! Demand answers. If you don't get them, then go somewhere else til you do. Don't accept half an answer or no answer!

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.
