Ears full of wax..? Thought it was hearing loss.?

I just went to the audiologist earlier because I thought that I had hearing problems. When they checked my ear, it was full of wax which maybe the reason why I had hearing problems and says that it can take away 20 decibels of your hearing.

The audiologist said that I can go see a ear doctor and use an over-the-counter ear cleaner.
Is 20 decibels alot for hearing? Should I actually see a doctor to clean it out and check on it or can I just clean it myself by buying those over the counter products?

To someone who said that I'm nasty....first of all I been using q-tips and now just realized after using it for so long that I can push the wax in your ear.....

To clean your ears, lay on your side, pour a capful of Hydrogen Peroxide in your ear and let it sit. It will feel funny as it bubbles, but that is what it is supposed to do. When the bubbling slows, turn your head and let it drain out into a towel or paper towel. Repeat with the peroxide as before.

Rinse with luke warm water by pouring a small into ear and turning head to drain, repeat.
This should not be done excessively but when ever you feel that there might be a wax build up. If it does not improve the condition, see a doctor. It is not wise to stick Q-tip type products into the ear canal as this can push wax in, instead of get it out.

definitely go to the doctor. why risk damaging something?

I don`t know how much is 20 decibels , but you could harm your ear cleaning it and worsen the problem and you may really hurt your ear !! so go to the doctor its safer

Go the doctor. Both my husband and I get that in our ears. Expecially with me having swimmers ear. We have to go and get them done usually twice a year. The nurse that cleans them out says it can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing with the syringe and that murine stuff and oils does not work for the wax that is packed in there. It only gets some of it out.

Yes we have both nearly been deaf when it gets really packed in there.

The nurse will basically make a mixture of peroxide and water and careful squirt it in your ear with pressure to loosen it all up and it flows right out. You will feel so much better.

You know you have problems when they can't see your eardrum which is a pretty shade of blue. That is when they know they are done with they can see the blue.

I wish you luck. It doesn't hurt, just feels a bit weird and yes you may feel a little dizzy for a few seconds since it does throw off your equalibrium.

Make an appt with your Dr. They can do an ear wash. They put in a few drops to loose the wax and then they flush out your ears with warm water until they are clean. Sometimes it can make you a little dizzy while doing it but it works. I would think since they are flushing until its clean that it would would work better than an OTC product. I actually had it done once myself.

You are so dam nasty how did you forget to clean your ears do you wash your @ss

go to an ENT (ear.nose.throat) doctor. they can do an ear flush. When using a Q tip you are only supposed to clean the outter part of the ear. you are not supposed to stick it into the hole in your ear. the wax will gradully come out and then you use a Qtip

Olive oil will soften the wax in your ears and make it easier to remove.
