Whats your opinion on eating disorders?

im doing a report on eating disorders and i would like 2 hear your opinion on the subject!!!

My sister had an eating disorder, and the funny thing is that in the movies and stuff they make this huge deal about it, but in real life, nothing crazy or life altering happened, everyone didn't sit around and cry, there was no intervention or people begging her to stop! We knew about it, we told her we didn't like it, life went on normally! Luckily eventually she stopped!

I'm against them

Its all in their head

I'm a recovering anorexic and they suck!!

Opinions? Eating disorders are a result of our country's obession with THIN. It's to the point of painful thin, too. We need to teach self-acceptance. As long as you are obese, what's wrong with some meat on your bones?

i think eating disorders are sad and extremely dangerous......

"The Passion of Alice" was a great book about an anorexic girl.....

Well, any more than six large pizzas or 24 tacos in a sitting is too much. You can put that in your report!

Yes, and you should never drink more than a keg of beer in a sitting too.

Eating disorders afflict millions of people and this subject should be taken more seriously.

When most people hear of someone with an eating disorder they almost automatically assume the person has a problem with food. Eating disorders are not a sign that a person has a problem with food, rather eating disorders are actually only the symptoms of underlying problems in that person's life.

Personally I think that having an eating disorder isn't healthy but once you get in that state of mind that prevents you from going on with your life and once you get addicted to the type of behavior either binging or purging or starving you will not want to stop. Me I have been a bulimic for 7 yrs and it is addicting. For me I wanted to feel in control because I was never in control growing up. Its just like an alcoholic once they get there first buzz they will be fiending for more because it is a stress reliever to pick up a bottle and drink the whole thing. Same thing with a person with an eating disorder they have gotten used to the feelings that the experience when they binge, purge etc. Person's with an eating disorder tend to either hide their disorder or be in denial about it. So that is what i think about eating disorders. Hope this helps
