Anyone else suffer from eating disorders?

I am currently suffering anorexia and bulimia. I was just wondering if anyone else was suffering and what their story was. I've been for 4 years. If you have, did you go to inpatient? HOw was it? Were the people nice?? Thanks. It'll help to hear others stories before i go to IP. Thanks.

i have struggled with bulimia when i was younger, i'd have "slips" every once in awhile since then...and now i'm at the point where i no longer purge, but still have a real unhealthy relationship with food....i have been in patient at a psychiatric facility for other issues....i'm guessing it's similar to being inpatient at a facility which treats e.d....it's really gonna be what you make of it....try and keep an open mind and be receptive to treatment....before going be sure to find out what things you will be allowed to bring....there will likely be lots of down time so if you can bring books, magazines, crossword puzzles, etc then do so...in my experience the majority of other patients were nice and actually very supportive...you will have at least one common issue, it's actually kinda nice to be around people who are struggling with the same things as you-they can be understanding like no-one else....as for staff, in my experience you have nice ones and the ones that aren't so great...it will be difficult in many ways (the treatment, the whole being "locked up" thing, being away from home, etc etc) but with some perseverance you will get thru it and come out a healthier person
good luck!

stop stop stop doing what u r doing u r going to destroy ur body and get root canals and cativaties from vomiting and no i'm not either.!1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... STOP STOP plz

Hi,

You poor thing. I've never had Anorexia, but suffered with Bulimia for 13 years. I was living a nightmare but no one knew, not even my husband.

Don't be anxious about seeking professional help. Bulimia is a common eating disorder and much is known about it, and the strategies needed to combat it. And every day you delay, you're doing damage to your body and altering your metabolism. Although I've overcome Bulimia, I'm on a lifelong diet because I wrecked my metabolism and it's slowed to starvation mode.

Counsellors aren't judgemental, they're there to help. And if you're not comfortable with the counsellor you see, (which is highly unlikely), ask if you can see another. You are the one with the disorder. You are the one who must feel relaxed with and have confidence in those assisting you.

Good luck.
