Why can`t plastic Surgery be an option used in the cases of disorders related to lack of self confidence?

We have heard of cases where suicide attempts or cases of suicide have taken place because of self hate.This comes as a result of having features that one hates but on talking people tend to take it as a psycological problem other than a physical one.Plastic surgery can be used to treat this especially here in Africa where we really need it.Not for the few rich who use it as a beauty factor.lt could really help.

Because the grass only looks greener from a distance. Goodlooking have-nots are still have-nots. That money can be better spend than on expensive surficial surgery.

Because there is no valid way to PROVE someone's level of self-hate.
Like the depression epidemic, everyone is being diagnosed with it. Likewise ADD, but in reality everyone is sad sometimes. Everyone gets distracted sometimes. They should be given out only in rare cases not all the time, like they are.

If plastic surgery was given for self-hate, it would virtually become free. Because no one is completely happy with themselves. No one.
And we can't prove that some ppl are worse off than others.

Self hate or lack of self confidence cannot be remedied by changing ones physical appearance. The problem stems from emotional or mental problems, and if a person chooses to change his/her appearance that will not change the root problem. Many people here in the States think that changing appearances will make life better when it really does not. I sincerely hope that other nations will not adopt this attitude.

I absolutely agree with you. How you look affects both how you feel about yourself and how other people react to you. It's unfair that some people get to be attractive and other people need to live their lives being ugly. Plastic surgery helps people who weren't blessed with good looks to feel better about themselves and to help them be more successful socially.

I think it's wrong when good looking people say that others shouldn't have plastic surgery ... they really don't understand. How you look does matter, and having one or more unattractive features can make a person depressed.

Sure....why not !!!...

But normally plastic surgery is more costly than physcology sessions....

One really has to make sure that the patient really benefit from such operations.....and know the inherent risks.

They would always find some thing wrong with themselves. And be in debt over there heads because they would always try to fix them selfs.

In the case of mental disorders, or image disorders, the person is not happy with other things. It's hard to believe that someone will kill themselves over body image. I think they would need to get their mental problems worked out first.

because you should accept who you are unless you look like Starr Jones, then its ok.
