Could hearing a commanding voice in your head be a symptom of OCD? If not, what? |
The person in question reports a "god" (or "ghost" sometimes) telling them to do certain things, such as check various areas (a listed symptom of OCD) or only color something specific. These alone sound like the disorder, but the commanding voice doesn't fit with any symptoms lists I've read. The person also obsesses over sleeping, another symptom. no i don't think hearing a voice is ocd. that sounds more psychotic. a little more serious than ocd. i would give them advice to talk to a dr. asap. hearing commands is not a good thing to ignore. good luck hearing voices is a symptom of schizophrenia Hearing voices is a symptom of schizophrenia, it is also referred to as auditory hallucinations. if it's ocd and i think your right, then the person is not hearing voices. it's thier own mind originating these thoughts. there are no hallucinations with ocd. i have had it since i was 7 and i'm 44 now. ocd is a very wicked and real disorder. sux. your doing your home work well.now if they have another disorder besides the ocd that makes them psychotic to hear voices thats possible. but the other disorder would be entirely different from the ocd. co-occurring disorders can be several. sounds like schizophrenia Im not a psychologyst in anyway so i cant diagnos but ima taking psyc. and yes it does sound like a sytom of OCD. when u dont do the things the "voice" tells u do u get anxious or nervous if so that is a symptom too. tho OCD is usually caused by something tramatic happening or a great fear if one does not do the task then something bad will happen. The viouce your hearing could be early onset of OCD i would go see a real psycologyst just incase because its easier to treat earlier then when it consumes you life. The voices could be part of schizophrenia. Some might believe it's paranormal. This person might do well going for counseling and taking medication. The OCDishness might be a secondary trait. Hearing voices in your head is a symptom of schizophrenia, and a person can have that along with OCD. I have OCD and received inpatient therapy for one month. My roommate had both schizophrenia and OCD. He said that both problems were getting better, as the medication for each condition did not conflict. He was also receiving OCD behavior therapy, which is a new system of psychotherapy that retrains the brain fluid to be properly channelled. auditory halllucinations are symptoms of schizophrenia. u should look it up...cuz this does not sound like ocd. |
