I might have thyroid, hormonal and food allergy disorders?

I wake up at night and get these numbness and tingling feelings that go all around my head. It makes me feel foggy. I also get shortness of breath with this. It only happens in the nighttime during the first hour to hour and half that I go to sleep. Has anyone had the same problems or heard of things like this?

I've been to the Mayo Clinic in minisota because i was originally diagnosed with miniture seizures but they said that they were actually panic attacks. Surprising enough Mayo clinic didnt find ANYTHING wrong. ive had numorous blood work done and its all been good so thats what makes it even stranger...

Hi.....haven't had the problem or even heard of it. I would suggest, though, not to self-diagnose with words like thyroid, hormonal, etc. These are serious glands and can have serious disorders. None of which would cause what you are describing.

However, an allergy may make you stuffy but numbness and tingling shouldn't play a part.

It almost sounds like you may have a problem with a cervical disc vs. mildly pinched nerve high on your neck near where your skull meets your neck.

Being you are only troubled with it at bedtime, I would suggest you check your pillow. If you use a very firm and full pillow, your head may be resting at an awkward angle causing a slightly pinched nerve.

If you can try buying a neck pillow to support the neck area and try it. A soft, "bean bag" type pillow is also good.

Anyway, I would look at the way you are supporting your head and neck as a possible cause.

Try a Benedryl tab. before sleep. The antihistamine may help if it is an allergy plus help you rest as well. The shortness of breath is probably being caused by a slightly "panic" feeling you are getting over all this.

Also, if you could try raising your head AND shoulders about 6". Not just your head, mind you. You'll need a wedge pillow.

Anyway, try it. If it continues, you need to see your MD.

Are you overweight by chance? Could be a heart condition like orthopnea.

I have low thyroid. it does give you brain fog. it will also give you
dry eyes and skin. you need a blood test to find out. it only costs about 10.00 a month to treat.
