I recently contacted the ins and they said that i have classic symtoms of Bronchiectasis, results from a chest x-ray revealed nothing and my doctor will not refer me to a chest physician because of this. CT scans usually need authorization from your health insurance. So, if you decide to do it on your own, you're probably on your own trying to pay for it. Chest X-ray alone is not enough to confirm or dismiss the diagnosis of bronchiectasis. You really need high resolution CT, bloods, sputum analysis and lung function tests. Your doctor - if he is a PCP, cannot tell you that it isn't bronchiectasis with just an X-ray. If he hasn't done these basic things I would find another PCP. |
