Hay Fever Only From Poplar?

We have a lot of poplar trees in Turkey. I never experienced hay fever before, yet for about three years I get hay fever when the woolly polens of the poplar start flying around. I have no problem with any other type of polen although oleaster, elaeagnus and linden give me a hard time breathing when I go near them. Any herbal advice on how I can overcome the problem with poplar?

There are a number of herbal remedies that may be helpful. The best approach is always to seek the advice of a local experienced herbalist, who will be able to advise you on an individual basis.

However, you could try the following: nettle (either as nettle tea or a tincture), chamomile (again may be used as chamomile tea or a tincture) or Sambucus (elder). There are some stronger herbs that can be given by a herbalist.

Try also taking large dosages of vitamin C and locally produced honey can also be helpful.

Finally, if it is only a specific pollen, it is possible to use homoeopathic desensitising drops to stop the reaction.

Good luck.

I'm not sure if it is classed as hay fever but i get similar symptoms when exposed to pine trees. I've tried rosemary tea and it relieves the symptoms most of the time. Try rosemary and tea-tree oil too. Unfortunately these only help after i have started showing the symptoms. Good luck finding a cure!

Eating locally produced unfiltered honey is believed by many to be a treatment for hayfever, supposedly by introducing manageable amounts of pollen to the body. Clinical studies have not provided any evidence for this belief
