Hay fever or sinus infection?

i was wondering how do you tell the difference between hay fever and a sinus infection? i've had a sinus infection before and got it treated, but i've been told i have hay fever.
my dad recently got me to help an old lady chop weeds in her garden....these were serious thick, tall weeds like ragweed and it took 3 hot breezy days.
on the 2nd day my nose started to clog up and run. but while i was working, my breathing was clear but my nose still ran a little.
i've been done for 4 days now and it still hasnt gone away and i've taken claritin-d which made it a little better but it still gets sometimes one nostril clogged up or both but it doesnt run as much.
my dad says its hay fever and should go away soon and my mom thinks i have a sinus infection. but before i worked those 3 days my nose was clear and good.

im not really allergic to too many things. i can normally walk outside even in spring and summer and run around on grass and be around animals without having clogged, runny noses or irritated eyes.

The one tale tale sign that differentiates the two is usually fever. Symptoms that may be caused by allergy are itching eyes, sneezing, nasal stuffiness, nasal congestion and drainage, and sometimes headache. Some people experience hearing changes, scratchy sore throats, hoarseness, and cough. Other less common symptoms include balance disturbances, swelling in face or throat tissues, skin irritations, and even respiratory problems and asthma.

Symptoms of sinus infection include:

* Headache
* Pain
* Upper jaw and tooth ache
* Tenderness around the nose, forehead and cheeks
* Swelling and pressure around the eyes
* Ear ache and infection
* Fever
* Weakness or fatigue
* A cough, runny nose or nasal congestion

A severe hay fever attack can eventually lead to a sinus infection and hay fever can attack at any time of year. Only your doctor can tell for sure. Make an appointment.

Hay fever usually doesn't start this early. It's a fall thing and it's horrible.

Mom's know best. I bet your mother is right. Go with that.

A good test to see whether you have a sinus infection or not is to take your index finger and tap on your cheek bones..if it hurts, you probably have a sinus infection. You will be amazed if how much it hurts when you do this if you have an infection..
