Hay fever....Has anyone experienced it? |
I've been suffering from hay fever for a couple of years now. I seem to experience swollen eyes and lips when I get it around late summer early fall. Have anyone ever has these same symptoms as I? If so, How did you deal with it? That so far I know. I have asthma and eczema since i was an infant. so I know what to do and what not to do. This is new to me as far as hay fever is concerned. You should visit and allergist or immunologist for skin testing. If you are suffering from eczema, psorassis, or other skin condition that prevents skin testing, then ask for a RAST test. Either way, you will be able to identify the mold or pollens that are causing the trouble. The most common are local grasses and trees. The trouble causing pollens are small, light, and carried on the air. The big yellow waxy kind of pollens are rarely the culprit. Keep indoors and keep the windows closed. If you own a home, keep the grass cut low to prevent it from going to seed (because pollen production is the precursor to this). Don't hang laundry out to dry. If you must be outside on a windy day, change clothes and wash your hair when you come inside. If you have pets, keep them in as much as possible so they don't collect pollens and mold in their fur and then bring it inside. You can take an over-the-counter antihistimine to reduce swelling. Some people try the natural approach to immunotherapy by eating two tablespoons of raw honey that was produced within a 5 mile radius of your home. This has limited results, as the pollens from plants that are visited by bees tend to be the waxy pollens and not the small windborne pollens. Awesome!! Glad to hear you are feeling better Report It |
