Anyone suffering with hay fever today?

Its really bizzare, every time it rains im in a terrible state, the sun comes out and im fine,is this common, why when it rains is there a connection, any remodies other than the usual antihystamines?

i'm bad all the time but my dr told me that if you are bad when it rains you are allergic to fungus spores. i've not been able to find any remedies other than the usual yet. tried the local honey idea but didn't work for me but doesn't mean it won't for you. i know how you are feeling as my eyes, nose and throat have been bad for weeks now. best wishes to you and i hope you get some relief soon

No not really today

local honey from local bees.it works

After it rains, there tends to be a bid pollen release, so yes, there is a connection. As for remedies, nothing I have heard of except the usual.

I can relate because i go through the same thing.
Okay this is going to sound silly but it works for me.
Everytime my sinuses start troubling me and i start
sneezing and sniffling, i put on my stove and
i stand over the hot plate and breathe in and out. The heat
helps stop the sneezing and sniffling.

I am with you...we had yet ANOTHER good rainfall early this morning...it is always when my allergies go rampid...yes...do like the one guy said if you are looking for a homeopathic way to try to help them by getting some natural honey...they sell it at health food stores as well...for now I will keep up between my zyrtec and allegra....doesn't seem like anything helps. Good luck!

Sounds like mold . I have bad sinus pain when the humidity is high, I was in pain. I moved to a humidity free state and the pain went away and asthma free. I still carrier an inhaler just in case but I never use it anymore.

i suffer it in the same way you do but i use citrizne and it stops the hayfever and you can get it from a chemist shop

a spoonfull of the local honey each day works wonders

Depends on where you are. My allergies are usually terrible, but this season have been non-existent (could it be the Zyrtec my allergist put me on?). Usually, however, when there is rainy or damp weather, it means a fungus allergy. If the allergy is predominant in the dry and sunny days, it is grass, pollen, flowers, etc. Unfortunately , the only cure (other than moving) is antihistamines, steroids (cortisone), or allergy shots (but they take a couple of years to become fully effective.)
Stick with the antihistamines (the ones containing pseudoephedrine that they keep behind the counter now--such as Sudafed and Claritin); the ones that they have on the shelves aren't worth anything. They have the same thing in them that puts you to sleep in the OTC sleeping remedies. (Benadryl is the only exception I know, but it will knock you out cold.)

no, but my mum has, and im trying to keep away from her.

Bloody awful. My eyes are streaming, my nose is blocked, my sinuses would need a drill to get through, I am dizzy because my ears seem to be full of gunge. And it has rainedfor the last 4 days!

Yeah, hay fever pretty bad today.
When it is going to rain, hay fever is bad for me.
Sun, no problems, sometimes...
Do you take prescription meds?

Firstly only about 50% of hay fever sufferers get total relief from antihistamines. The rest have to use local treatments often in conjunction, to treat their eyes, nose or chest.

Antihistamines divide into 2 basic groups:

1) Very old, 2-3 times a day, potent, sedative and very cheap.
2) Newer, once daily, less potent, less sedative (these still cause some sedation!) and more expensive.

There are a dozen in the second group, there is little to choose between them but mizolastine is said to decrease the number of patients who need local preparations.

I always put in my answer before I look at the other answers. I might be tempted to guess that among them there is likely to be at least one suggestion about using homeopathy and at least one advocating this weeks urban myth of local honey. Neither of these work, they are however harmless so you are welcome to test them out for yourself.

Both some eye and nasal preparations are available over the counter. They are however the older and milder managements and the pack sizes are very small for the price you pay. There is often an argument for seeing your GP, if only to save money.
