Cats that dont cause Hay fever?

Certain cats cause me to come out in a rash and itch and make my eyes water. I think its short haired. I really want to get a cat but dont want to live with the allergies. What types of cats are known to not cause allergies for sufferers? any suggestions that can help me?

You can be allergic to a cats fur or skin but it will not cause hay fever as that is caused by pollen and grasses.

You can get a low allergy cat but they come at a high price, at least several thousand pounds. There are also Sphinx cats which are naked. If you like the naked ones the best breeder is Nude Dudes, just type that in on your browser.

Bengals are not too bad as they shed less than most cats. Pay a visit to some catteries and see which ones don't affect you.

yes and no
but mainly yes but also no

Cornish Rex is OK and doesn't cause hay fever

a hairless pussy would be best....

Have you tried being round long haired cats?
I now this sounds weird but sometimes the allergy can be caused by the thickness of the fur, I've got a friend who's fine with cats who either have long fur or who have short fur that is fine, as soon as she goes near a short haired cat who's fur is thick, she has an allergy. Fined out the thickness of the fur with the cats your allergic to and see if it changes with the thickness.
If it's any type of fur then go for a hairless cat:
The Sphynx is hairless
That's the only one I could find that is 100% hairless, there are probably more though.

Good luck with finding a cat!

I would suggest getting a blood test of your IGG and IGE for cat. Even if you don't get a reaction your blood maybe reacting and what it does in time is wear your immune system down. It would be unlikely that you would be allergic to only some kinds of cats most likely your allergic to all.

Cat allergies are caused by the cats dander (dead skin flakes and such) and saliva, not by the hair. I am really allergic to certain cats and not allergic at all to others. I personally think it depends on the cat, not necessarily the breed of the cat. You can try getting allergy shots to help with this or take a daily antihistamine. I have 2 cats and live with my allergies, although I'm not that allergic to my cats. I do break out in a bad rash when one of them decides to lick me though!
