What are my treatment options for hashimoto's disease? |
I have Hashimoto's disease and was told today by my endocrinologist that my body will ultimately "kill" my thyroid. Until it does, I have no treatment options! I have so many symptoms associated with hypothyroidism and am desperate for some type of relief! I have gained 30 + lbs, am constantly tired and don't menstruate regularly (I am a newlywed and would like to have children within the next couple of years), etc. I was told the "death" of my thyroid could take years and the thought of continuing in my current state for what would feel like an eternity is devastating, please help! Hi Artsy I have this, (Hashimoto's Thyroiditis as well as Addison's disease), you may want to see if the endocrineologist can do some tests and prescribe thyriod medication for the amount that you are currently hypothroid, or perhaps you may want to seek out a different endocrineologist that will be able to help you. Someone should be able to help you. Good Luck. what ever you do , do NOT listen to curezone! They will take the money of poor souls that think they have no other way to deal with the problem. You need to have a very educated endocrine. doc. to help you through this. There is treatment. You do NOT have to just wait till your body kills your thyroid. That is ridiculous! I have hashimotos - go to a endocrinologist, i don't think regular doctors know how to treat thyroid and hormone related disorders. i take Synthroid and have evened out mostly, but have to have my levels checked every 3 months because the thyroid with retaliate at times so the amount i need varies. GET A NEW DOCTOR! |
