Hashimoto's disease is a autoimmune disorder in which your immune system attacks your thyroid gland. Because of this,it can cause swelling of the thyroid and it causes it to function irregularly because there are not the right chemicals in your body. The actual disease it self seems to be non-lifethreatening but it can cause other things that can be potentially dangerous. As for the cholesterol, ask you doctor about a cholesterol lowering medication because they may effect other things.

That does not make much sence as Hashimotos is a diesease of the thyriod. You may have misunderstod your endocrinologist unless he said you have hyperlipidemia which is high cholesterol. You can increase your fiber and eat less fat that will help lower your cholesterol.. I would talk to your doctor again.
