Y do you think it is important to practice handwashing especially in nursing student or nurses?

I think you should definitely get used to washing your hands, especially in that profession.

I don't. I think it's important for ALL people, no matter what their profession, to practice good and conscientious hand hygiene.

Wow - if you are a nursing student I hope they have stressed to you the importance of this. Of course, as a nurse, you are exposed to many, MANY germs. And so are your patients. By washing your hands often, you not only protect yourself from those little bad guys, you protect your patients too. I am in medical school, and they teach us to wash our hands at least before and after we see each patient.

Do some research and you will see that studies have shown handwashing can make a TREMENDOUS difference in the infection rate in hospitals and other settings. Your hands come in contact with bacteria from many sources, and without very good, proper handwashing, that bacteria can be spread to other people.

Yes if you don't wash your hands ,well, you can spread germs to other patients as well as yourself and family.
