this just keeps going on.would this be considered a chronic conditon?

started using tylenol pms just to sleep.

If it keeps you from doing normal, daily activities...

My BPD and anxiety has me on the verge of a freak out every few days... I haven't tried to get SSD (I would get it for my hip not my mental state though) but it doesn't hurt to try.

Yes, it's in the social security list (called the "blue book")of impairments. If it's bad enough and severely interferes with your daily living, work, etc. it's considered a disability. Report It

no...when pyschiatrists and scientists named it panic disorder...it means it's a disorder, not disability. i have ADHD and bipolar disorder and i am no where close to being labeled as a disabled 17 year old.
obviously it's a chronic condition, panic disorder can't just dissappear. you need to go to the psychiatrist to get the help you need.

wow talk about stress i feel sorry for u. My bf has panic attacks to and they suck. He is on paxil for it. And that seams to cure it. I think it can be considered a disability. Its sorta hard to work if u get panic attacks. And most times u dont know when they come on either. I have had panic attacks my self to. So ya its not fun. They last about 3 min and u cant see, hear or even stand up let alone.

Perhaps, but anxiety disorder in itself can absolutely be cured. I had it, and now I don't, so I know that is true. It is not a disability, just an illness that can be overcome. All this other stuff you listed is just life circumstance. Mine was worse, lots of others have had worse. So that doesn't mean I don't think you are having it rough, obviously if what you list is true, you've been through stuff. But you aren't disabled, you are only suffering anxiety. There are ways (not drugs) to pick yourself up. If you want to wallow in your pain, it isn't a disability either, just a choice. However, if you have anxiety and need help dealing with it, I'd be glad to help. You can contact me anytime.

I suffered from panic disorder for five years -- it was after my father passed away and I handled his estate....he was my hero. It was the strangest thing ever (so I thought) but I was told by doctors that it can come on AFTER a major trama (which to me, that was although I was an adult) -- I was put on Xanax and got addicted to it (but would take it all over again for the panic IF it came back)....I haven't had another panic attack in probably 15 years......it CAN go away.
The thing you need to realize is WE are in control of ourselves and NO ONE ELSE IS. You need to learn to be strong on your own -- pretend like it is you against the world and you will get stronger......the reason I say this is because it's true. Once you realize that YOU are in charge of your own mind and destiny, you will be okay -- maybe not perfect but you will be okay ---- if you have a serious mental issue like bipolar, etc., then you definitely needs meds.

You should see a therapist to find out what is causing this panic. Perhaps there was a trauma at age 9, other than the divorce. Or if it was the divorce, you need to talk to someone about all of the past situations in your life. Once you have some good therapy the panic attacks will probably end. The therapist can also help you learn new ways of responding to stress so that you will have new, healthier ways of responding and the panic attacks will be a thing of the past. The therapist will also help you learn to make better choices in relationships so that you do not have to repeat the pass. I suspect that your father was abusive, which is often the case when a young woman ends up with 2 abusive men. Therapy will help you to overcome the past and have a much better life for you and for your child.

You can not get SSI for this condition. So forget that. You must seek counseling for your sake and the sake of your child.

Have you ever thought you are being kept in spiritual bondage? God loves you and is willing to break this cycle.

Also some of us just don't have the same coping skills as others. Bad things happen to lots of people. If you have not had a good foundation of learning how to rise above them, have not had proper care, resources, mentoring, role modeling etc. then you don't know any other way to live but in fear and bondage. There is another way to live.

I hope you would give some thought to a Christian counsellor.

I started having panic attacks almost 10 years ago. The Doc's gave me different meds to try to "fix" this problem. They sent me to a shrink and a counselor. They put me on Effexor- the worst thing I've ever allowed to be done to me. (please read what other people are saying about this SSRI via the link below). They were all just band-aids for the problem. I will never take another SSRI as long as I live!! I spent hundreds of dollars on the Lucinda Basset tapes for panic attacks- did nothing for me- did tons of research and finally met a doctor who had a brain!!! She gave me a saliva test for adrenal fatigue. Turns out panic attacks are caused by certain deficiencies in the body such as low Epinephrine, high Cortisol, Doapamine, Serotonin. Tell your doctor to order this test for you. It is the only real way to find out what's actually wrong so that they can fix it. I swear I think doctors must be taking kick backs from the drug companies so they just keep us medicated instead of trying to fix the real problem and help us.
Test info:
"Neuro Adrenal 1 Profile" test from Neuro Science, Inc. 373 280th street, Osceola, WI 54020 Phone: 1-888-342-7272 www.neuroadrenalinc.com
The test consists of 3 small tubes for saliva collection and opne small vial for urine. You take the test from home and then mail back to the lab with the pre-paid postage. They send the results to your doctor, who then should give you a copy. If you are deficient in any of these areas, there are vitamins, minerals you can take to help your body normalize itself. Good luck!! DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!!!! And help spread the word.
