OCD? Or some other disorder? What cures? |
I know I have at least a mild case of OCD. Or maybe a mediocre case. I display all those horrible handwashing symptoms, counting excessively symptoms, feeling that something bad will happen unless I follow a routine. I also know that all these aren't realistic, but I do it anyway, because I feel I HAVE to. For instance, I had a chemistry test two weeks ago, and for a whole week, I wouldn't stop worrying about it. In fact, I had to keep talking myself out of the depressed mood I'd go into, and eventually it became like a mantra whereI had to reassure myself that things would work out fine. You have a text book case of OCD. I have been diagnosed with it for 15 years. I recall having symptoms as a child, but , when I found myself in a stressful place like college and parenting it went haywire. There are a few different treatments:medication, specialized counseling(immersion therapy for instance) You do display the symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder, and yours is not a mild case. It's the most obvious advice in the world, and you'll get it a million times for this question, but go to see a psychologist. 1. psychotherapy Some anxiety in the mix as well, your doctor can prescribe if necessary medication to help with the OCD, the rest of the treatment comes from you, with the help of a good psychologist. I have found CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) can be very good. Good luck. |
