OCD? Or some other disorder? What cures?

I know I have at least a mild case of OCD. Or maybe a mediocre case. I display all those horrible handwashing symptoms, counting excessively symptoms, feeling that something bad will happen unless I follow a routine. I also know that all these aren't realistic, but I do it anyway, because I feel I HAVE to.

So anyway, I have another problem, and I don't know whether it's related to OCD. It tends to affect me more than the typical OCD symptoms too.

I'm schooling now, and I know that when people think they've screwed up a test, they get upset and maybe shed some tears over it. But eventually, they snap out of it. In my case, it's like I'll keep worrying about the test to no end, and then I'll find even more mistakes (which sometimes may not even have existed) and I have to keep talking myself out of this mild depressionI go into whenever I feel I've done bad on a test/ exam or just something I want. I tend to become all scared and will become all quiet and stuff.

For instance, I had a chemistry test two weeks ago, and for a whole week, I wouldn't stop worrying about it. In fact, I had to keep talking myself out of the depressed mood I'd go into, and eventually it became like a mantra whereI had to reassure myself that things would work out fine.

My friends all find me very stressed whenever certain important things roll around. It's like I just can't snap out if it.

It's like my friends will say "it's over! I don't wanna think about it anymore." And then awhile later, they'll be all happy. For me, it's like I fight an internal battle with myself everytime I think about it. And unless I can reassure myself that things will work out fine, whoa, I can sit there for an hour calculating what score I would have gotten.

Other things bug me too. If I want to get into a program really badly, I won't stop thinking about how I may have faired.

Please help! If there's anything I can do, I'd do it because worrying excessively ruins my day!

You have a text book case of OCD. I have been diagnosed with it for 15 years. I recall having symptoms as a child, but , when I found myself in a stressful place like college and parenting it went haywire. There are a few different treatments:medication, specialized counseling(immersion therapy for instance)

You do display the symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder, and yours is not a mild case. It's the most obvious advice in the world, and you'll get it a million times for this question, but go to see a psychologist.

There is medication for OCD to address the anxiety symptoms. I believe treatment for OCD is behavioral in nature.

1. psychotherapy
2.you are ambitious

Some anxiety in the mix as well, your doctor can prescribe if necessary medication to help with the OCD, the rest of the treatment comes from you, with the help of a good psychologist. I have found CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) can be very good. Good luck.
