Lump/Bump on side of hand?

Hi,
I wonder if someone could possibly help me and offer their advice. In the past couple of days I have noticed a small bump/lump on the side of my right hand. I believe this is called the fifth metacarpal bone. The lump is just below the start of my little finger. It is gettin bigger and more painful. The pain isn't there all the time just when I add pressure to it and I am still able to move all my fingers with ease and without discomfort. I don't play any sports and have not had any injuries to my hand (to my knowledge). I would be very grateful if someone could offer their advice.
Thanks,
Susie

Sounds a lot like a ganglion ..my mum had one removed from her wrist a few weeks ago..i would talk to your GP they might remove it for you

I think you are right. This may the beginnings of a small sixth finger. Let us know if it grows any more!

It is probably a ganglion cyst!
