I have small love handles, but would like to Shape my body before it gets out of hand..helP?

im 26 . 5'8" and weigh about 150 lbs. even though i'm skinny boned..i have the smallest skinny hands ever, and arms and everything. but i still weigh because my mid section has gotten abit bigger. from age 14 to age 24 i was fine, but then i got some injuries and came depression ttoo. extreme depression. now i'm a bit better mentally..but i can't run cause i have knee problems. my diet is not so bad. At this age, metabolism slows down right? Can i still change or is it too late? being that i can't move much, i don't see how it would be possible. I see other big people who get thin ( in tv or something) BUT they dont have knee problems so they can run and do aerobic exercise so it's possible for them to get lean with the right exercise. But i dont see how i can lose it not being able to do hard strenous exercise.

Knee problems are always a pain. I have had knee tendinitis sometimes in both of my knees. Use machines at the gym and do leg lifts and leg curls. These are safer exercises that will not pound the knees or re-injure them like squats and lunges.

For cardio...try doing rowing machines or stationary cycling. I find stationary cycling is the best for bad knees. It puts more work on your quadriceps and less on the knee itself like running. Swimming may also be a viable exercise. Good luck.

sit ups, crunches & leg lifts can help to tone up abdominal muscles but it will not help to reduce your love handles as effectively as cardio excercises. you can try swimming if your knee injury allows

Metabolism depends on your genes, and so does the type of body you have.

I too have a similar problem, I am 47. Basically OK and toned all over, but those handles!! I try by doing alot of oblique crunches, which help minimize the effect, and watching my fat intake. They may never go away.

I am 5'9 190 pounds. At one time starved myself down to 140, but still had them.

Get used to it, watch your diet, and avoid 'tapered' shirts :=)

Love handles are things that you just have to come to love-most people cannot get rid of them. I am the most fit I have been in a long time in my life and I still have love handles. Girls love them, though, so it's not all that bad. You just have to find clothing that flatters your figure.
