Patience, Instant Gratification and ADD [the disorder]?

Their relation to each other. I understand that instant gratification and impatience go hand and hand. ADD is a disorder that explains the impatient person. Put how would they all blend together?

ADHD ("ADD" no longer exists) is tied to impatience and instant gratification because one of the symptoms of ADHD is that a person will often act in a way that delivers short-term gratification over working towards a greater, long-term goal. Those with ADHD are less likely to have the determination & patience necessary for working on longer projects, assignments, etc.

Attention Deficit DIsorer (ADD) is an inability to sustain attention. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is ADD with over active behavior that can include failure to control one's impulses. That is, somebody does whatever pops into the mind and doesn't think about whether they should or shouldn't do it. I hate to disagree with Cailtlin, but ADD does exist; I work for a mental health agency; some of our clients have ADD and some have ADHD. Both forms of the disorder are described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual Of Mental Disorders, and they are usually diagnosed in children. There are other Impulse-Control DIsorders like Intermittent Explosive Disorder (extremely violent temper), Pathological Gambling, Trichotillomania (compulsion to pluck hair), Pyromania (compulsion to set fires), Kleptomania (compulsion to steal) and Impulse Control Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (any impulse control disorder that doesn't fit he other categories). The Impulse Control Disorders are usually diagnosed in adults.
