Has anyone heard of this symptom??? |
Has anyone ever heard of RSD...reflex stress disorder... I had my hand checked by a doctor after 2months of being messed up from a skateboarding accident and he said I have RSD... my circulation is bad and I have to start using the hand or else.. It hurts like hell using it and I can feel the circulation going all around through my right side...weird..has anyone else heard of this and how long before I recover??? thanks:) I've never heard of this particular affliction, but you can do a Google search on it, of course. learn an effective way of exercising your wrist to work with you no wear a copper bracelet - it helps improve circulation No one can really predict how long it will be until you recover. But, yes, i have heard of it. yes its reflex sympathetic dystrophy...actually this is an older term...the new term is complex regional pain syndrome..a sign you may need a more up to date dr..who specializes in such things..Theyre not clear what it is really..usually effects 40-60yr old...but has pain swelling poor circulation...You need a pain specialist who deals with it on a daily basis yes , i have heard of that you told me about it. George Costanza had something similar to it on Seinfeld (the summer of George.) Are you seeing a board certified hand surgeon? If not, check it out...Also, ask about seeing a certified hand therapist CHT, who can help. I think this is unusual for a young person, and in my experience sometimes means there's something still going on with your wrist. So #1 have a physician rule out any static or dynamic carpal instability, or any other structural issues. This can be extremely debilitating if allowed to continue, can be permanent if not properly addressed - so please follow up with a specialist physician and hand therapist. If you can tolerate it, spend some time rubbing your hand and fingers with lotion - even if it's very lightly....I think of it like this - the nerves are p.o.'d and so they are over-reacting and interpreting everything as painful. So, you want to wear them out so they are tired of telling you about the pain all of the time. You may benefit from frequently moving your fingers and wrist through a pain-free range, move as much as you can - slowly is best - without causing pain. Stiffess = more stiffness=more pain= more stiffness. Try moving your hand/wrist in some comfortably warm water, or even in the bath. Try an isotoner glove (turned inside out so that the seams don't dig in to the skin) on your hand at night, not too tight, though. You could do this during the day, but I am assuming you are a pup and won't go for that! Are you sleeping well? Hug a pillow to keep your shoulder a bit away from your body...Any of these above suggestions should NOT make you feel worse, and if they do, you should do less, and is it's till worse, then stop. Plus you should be seeing that doc anyhoo....good luck. |
