Should I consider an eating disorder, I really want to lose weight fast and I can't think of any other way to?

I'm 145, 5'4'' and not happy about my weight at all i know that eating disorders cause real problems but being bulimic would probably help me. and i'm not planning on being bulimic forever, just until i reach 115 pounds. advice wanted ( and don't give me stuff on how it screws with your body i know it all already, and i don't care. I did my reashearch before hand)

Don't do it. Being bulimic won't ever help you. And even though you don't plan to be bulimic forever, you will be. It never leaves you, like alcoholism and drug addiction. I have scars on my knuckles and cavities on what were once perfect teeth. My esophagus is still eroded and I still have ulcers in my stomach. I haven't made myself purge in 7 years and I still have health and digestive problems, not to mention my metabolism is destroyed. I suffer from something called Fibromyalgia, and my body is in constant, sometimes excruciating pain... the symptoms started around the age of 15, only a year after I became bulimic.

You really can't eat proper and get a little bit of exercises every day to lose 30 pounds? By reducing your daily caloric intake to around 1400 calories and adding moderate exercise 3-5 days a week you can easily shed several pounds a week.... just as much as you would lose by being bulimic. You obviously seem to have made up your mind, so why are you asking people for advice? Because you want attention? If you really 'did your research' then you would know that you still absorb a great deal of the calories you consume before vomiting, and you may even appear heavier then before due to the puffiness in your face. It is even possible to gain weight. Your metabolism will slow down, causing you to gain weight much faster then you did beforehand. Most of the weight lose is water weight and lean muscle mass, both of which are essential to your body. Constant vomiting lowers your levels of electrolytes drastically, which can cause sudden fainting and even death. Once you reach your goal weight, you will still think you look fat. And when you lose weight unnaturally, chances are you won't keep it off. Your stomach will be stretched out from the binging and purging and you will definately have digestive problems. Before you know it you will be lying to your friends and family all the time and unable to maintain normal relationships. Of course, since you did your research, you know all that already.

Also, people don't 'consider' eating disorders, they develop them. Frequently due to extremely low feelings of self-worth, extreme depression, high pressure school/family environments, and low self-esteem. I spent what could have been the best of my teenage years in and out of hospitals with girls and women who suffered from these terrible disorders. I have seen girls have tubes forced through their noses feeding them liquid food because they refused to eat. I know for a fact that several of the girls/women I was in the hospital with are dead. In addition to hurting our bodies, we were all miserable on the inside. And what we were doing to ourselves only added to the guilt and misery.

I suggest you find a counselor to give you some attention and work on your self image, and if you are actually concerned about your weight then follow a healthy diet/exercise plan. Don't ruin your life because you aren't happy with your weight.

Don't be an idiot. Do you have any brain cells at all?

This is very ignorant.

um no. how you could say that. so many girls want to get away from their eating disorder. no. never an eating disorder. that will hurt your body even more.

that's what they all say "i just want to reach 115 lbs." then it turns into "ok i'll stop at 110" then 100 then 90 then 80.. thats why it is called a DISORDER.

does something about the word disorder sound appealing to you?? wtf?

You've done the research so....what's the rush to get thinner. You are the right weight for your height, but have you thought about diet and exercise? You can't "give" yourself an eating disorder......why not eat well, drink gallons of water and start running.

considering an eating disorder would not be the smartest thing to do, but many do think deeply on that topic.
the healthiest and smartest way to lose weight is to exercise atleast 10 mins a day and cut down on how much you eat.

You'll care when you see your teeth rotting and hair falling out. Stop eating sugars, lower your meat and carbohydrate intake and increase fruits and veggies. Works every time!!

im vegetarian and i say thats the best way to go. im skinny and have been my whole life but im HEALTHY skinny and im not even crazy with my fruits and veggies or anythin just not eatin any meat helps alot. and you can still get protein many other ways i would talk to a diet specialist though. also since your considereing actually being bulimic then i think you might consider becoming vegetarian.

How can you honestly say that you've done your research and still want to continue down the eating disorder path???

This has to be one of the most ignorant questions ever.

I guarantee that if you try any sort of starvation diet, eating disorder, you will gain back all, if not more, of the weight you lost.

You don't need to diet, you need to get your head checked out.

I've thought about it too, but puking every morning? or after every meal? does that sounds appealing to you? hell no. try this, its the trick I've been using the past couple of months. every time u want something to eat but aren't actually hungry, drink a bottle of water. also, go to the gym a day or two every week. it you aren't familiar with the equipment, see if an orientation is offered. also, look for cheap drop in classes. i find you are pushed more is someone is instructing you, as opposed to you being on your own.

From personal experience my friend, an eating disorder is not an extreme diet, it is a disease.

Bulimia is addicting, and who is to say that you would stop at 115.
Purging does not necessarily remove the calories you just ate, but it rots your teeth and ruins your esophagus.

You can still lose weight other ways. I'm going to sound lame but cut calories, exercise more, and avoid consuming alcohol when you can.

that's the thing, you think it'll just help you get down to 115, which is too skinny for your height by the way. but the problem with bulemia is that you can't stop. it's so easy to do you'll become dependant on it to help you lose weight. it allows you to eat anything you want anytime you want and it definitely works, but seriously you won't be able to live a normal life and it'll cause rifts in your relationships. not worth the trouble sister! just control your portions and become more active physically. you'll lose the weight and be happier.

Try diet pills and working out. also you can wear layers when working out and sleeping and sleep with several blankets. try eating right on top of that. Try working out twice a day. Wake up go for a milie run then come home do pushups and crunches then take a shower and get ready for work/school. After work/school go to the gym do cardio and then eat light for dinner. You may not loose all of the desired weight you want to loose but you will see a definite difference in your body and you will be more lean and defined. If you stay towards that sort of regimine you can loose 15-20 within the next two months.

I wouldn't do that if I was you. You do realise that losing weight and losing body fat are two completely different things. Just because you lose weight, doesn't mean you are losing body fat. Go down that route and expect to lose mostly muscle and quite possibly end up with a higher body fat percentage. You say you did your research, but obviously you didn't do enough. Just do this the healthy way, if you think this is becoming an obsession, then please speak to someone about how you are feeling. Anyone considering an eating disorder is already in a mindset that requires psychological help. Take care : )

You don't just "Give" yourself an eating disorter.

Its your body do as you please however take it from someone who has had anorexia You tell your self just til I weigh ---- then when you get there it still is not enough so you say 5 more pound and on and on and on. The best way to lose weight and not risk your health is talk to your doctor they can prescribe diet pills. Also if you cut calories and walk instead of drive when you can it will help you lose maybe not fast but at a steady rate that is healthy Want to really lose weight cut 85% of your carbs eat veggies and drink no calories that means water tea or coffee with out sugars of any type only even diet calorie free sodas have sugars that can cause weight gain

Drop all the junk food and stop drinking soda, also drop the food that is high in starch. Drink water and just eat meat and vegetables. Try doing crunches and walk/jog for 30 minutes each day then you'll lose that weight quickly. Don't skip meals, that will slow your metabolism down. Running everyday will boast your metabolism. Just don't become a bullimic, the side effects are far worser than being a little chubby.

if you dramatically lose weight in a short amount of time, people will be embarassed for you, if you don't have the decency to be embarassed yourself.

instead, it's better to lose weight gradually, so that people on the whole, they don't notice. but people who are actually paying attention will notice and will compliment that you are looking healthy while you are losing weight.

unfortunately, when one goes bullemic to get to a target weight, when they reach near that weight, they always think that they can do "another five pounds" and so on. also, it really doesn't look good at all.

most guys want a girl that has some meat on her, for several reasons. that means that a possible baby will be able to survive. it means that while making love, the guy can't "accidently" break her. no guys want to date a skeleton. i'm sure you want to fit into that pretty little dress or something, but getting skinny by way of an eating disorder makes you ugly

If you've done the research, then it's time to learn from it and take the advice that comes from it.
Maybe more research will be good, on how to lose weight permanently and safely, as a lifestyle, etc.

The only thing faster than an eating disorder to lose weight is to chop off one of your legs--then chop off the other one--presto! Double your progress! But that's not much better, is it? You'll get a lot closer to 115 pounds, but you'll still be unhappy with your body.

Please do neither bulimia nor the leg-chopping! Both ways are equally dangerous and unwise.

You claim not to care, but you do.

Decide to take care of yourself:
Follow the USDA pyramid, get 30-90 minutes of aerobic exercise a day, in addition to some resistance work. Keep that up for 6 weeks. Celebrate any small progress you make along the way. You'll become a healthier, sexier version of yourself. Happened to me.

I would go with a dietition. They really help. People get "hooked" on belimia so it can become a real medical condition. Regular excersise also helps.

This may sound mean....but you are seriously considering that You are a very stupid person.....do u want to die?
