What would acid do to me if i have a history of abuse?

I was abused as a child and sometimes have flashbacks about it. but other than that It doesn't really bother me (I went through tons of therapy) and I was wondering what might happen if I tried acid? or any other type of hallucinogen for that matter? I am normally a happy up-beat person. i just have a bad past.

please do not post saying "dont do it, your stupid, blah blah"
I just want to know what the effects may happen.

I'm not saying "don't do it, you're stupid, etc." but it is pretty obvious that any sorts of hallucinogens, namely acid, may easily turn out bad for you. People have been reported to develop schyzophrenia, for example, after taking acid and in fact I used to have a friend to whom that happened, needless to say he never had a regular life again. If you're wondering about flashbacks, you're right, acid can give you sudden flashbacks, nemely in awkward situations such as when you're driving, anytime. Not that everybody has them, it's just a real possibility. As for the rest, a trip may be good or terrible and I wouldn't like to find myself involved in a bad trip and unable to control myself for 8 hours or more, which can be a taunting eternity, but that's me, you do as you will.

Well it could make those memories A thousand times worse I know I was there...I think it was an awesome thing to try so I did but it gave me horrible flash backs about my past so it is not A drug of choice!!!!!!!!

It's risky - you could have a good or bad experience. If you do try it, start with just a little, like a quarter. Also, mushrooms are a little gentler.
Why do you want to try it?

It might be fine, it might not. I wont tell you not to or that you're stupid but let you make your own decision.
The thing is, if you have a bad trip the effects last for 8 hours or more, it's not reversible except with medical attention.
Someone around you needs to stay straight in case that happens.

I would not recommend acid, as you are showing symptoms of PTSD. You could end up reliving your abuse as acid can itself cause PTSD.

LSD 25 has been used in clinical trials for the treatment of psychological disorders. When it was first discovered it was sent out to doctors to see if they could find any practical use for it. The CIA has also used it for interogation and other behavioral experiments on humans. It can seriously intensify a mood. For instance if you are taking a depressant for a sickness, you might have a very bad trip. A bad trip can be the most frightening experience you will ever have. A good trip is never boring but is usually not all that pleasurable, everything is so intense. LSD can help provide you with insight into your own psyche on a deep level, which is dificult to explain in words. It could be a symbol of how you see yourself becoming, a fear of what you might become. I would warn anyone against the use of LSD because it breaksdown your perceptions of the ego not just your ego, everybody's ego. Seeing through people's mask can be scary. And you will never be the same again no matter how hard you try. I think the tragically hip said it best in the song gift shop "And after a glimpse, over the top, the rest of the world becomes a gift shop".
Meaning once you've seen the psycadelic universe the mundane get really mundane.
Another thing that can happen is that you won't be able to let go of your own ego, and the LSD will just have litte effect on you. It's a mind thing, you can come down anytime you want, the drug just creates a cascade effect, the half life of the drug last's only a short while.

There are many different kinds of acid out there plus you never know in advance if it will be a good trip or not. It could cause damage of some kind but you don't know, even if you've done it before. Everyone is different. No trip is the same, no matter how many different times you try it. You may never have a bad one but then you may never have a good one either. Personally, I wouldn't advice it cause I know it's a waste of time. But then, how many young people can take advice, I couldn't so I had to learn the hard way.

Your bad past would put you at higher risk for a bad trip than is the case for someone who had a "normal" childhood (whatever that is). Bad trips can be extremely traumatic. LSD can also cause flashbacks, and since you already have flashbacks about abuse, I would think your risk for unpleasant flashbacks would be pretty high.

My advice is to just stick with the marijuana (I'm assuming you smoke it if you're considering using acid, because that's usually the order people do those two drugs in). It's far safer than acid.

If you decide to take it anyway, keep the dosage small -- like cut the "hit" in half and just take one of the halves.

Recommended reading before you try it, if you decide to try it anyway: the book "LSD: My Problem Child" by Dr. Albert Hofmann, the chemist who accidentally invented LSD. I'm sure you can find it through half.com or Amazon. It's quite an interesting read, and reading it will give you some time to think about what is, after all, a very big decision that should not be taken lightly.
