HPPD: Hallucinogen persisting perception disorder is a long-term condition caused by taking hallucinogens. People with this condition experience perceptual (usually visual) distortions even after the "trip" is over and the drug and its metabolites have left the body. Under some definitions it is a requirement for diagnosis that the distortions affect the person's ability to function normally. It is a DSM-IV diagnosis with diagnostic code 292.89. |
