Hair Loss...?

Alright. I'm 17 and recently I've noticed I've been losing a lot of hair. I've also got a bit of a receding hairline. I talked to my uncle about it and he said that when he was 17 he started losing hair pretty bad. He would look at his pillow in the morning and it would have hair all over it. I put a black shirt over my pillow just to see how much I'm losing and I have about 30 a night fall out. My question is, will this amount of hairloss slowdown? Or will it keep going at this rate? My uncle stopped losing his hair in college and still has a decent head of hair. What is the common trend with hair loss? Does massaging the scalp actually help? How do you do it? I don't want to do any of the products that screws with your hormones. My uncle also started losing his hair when he started seriously lifting weights. I lift weights as well, but no roids or anything. Anyways what have you guys experienced?

I lost a great deal of hair when my thyroid quit working.......a dangerous condition which also left me unable to walk for some months. Doctors typically don't recognize this as 87% of cases occur in women.

Do you seem to be colder than you used to be? Are the soles of your feel dry and cracking? Have you gained weight lately? If so, you might want to see your doctor.

As to scalp massage, I recently started massaging my scalp and, lo and behold, I am experiencing some hair re-growth!

Don't massage it, that may pull some extra hair out. Don't wear ball caps too often. Don't us Pantene Pro V I've heard it can cause your hair to fall out, but not sure if that's true.
Hair loss is genetic, so if your uncle's hair loss subsided and left him with a generous amount of hair still in his head, chances are yours will too. Don't worry, girls don't really care, especially if you can't help it. A lot of girls think it's sexy. :)

You could have low thyroid. It can couse hair loss.
also start on rogain foam. It takes about a month before it starts working. The foam works better then the old rogaine.

You will need to see a doctor for a blood test to find out if your thyroid is low.

Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of a cycle of growing new hairs and loosing some. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

There are many types of alopecia (baldness or hair loss), each with a different cause. Alopecia may be localized to the front and top of the head as in common male pattern baldness. It may be patchy as in a condition called alopecia areata. Or it can involve the entire head as in alopecia capitis totalis. The word "alopecia" comes from the Greek "alopex" for "fox." Foxes are less furry when afflicted with a skin disease (the "mange") which causes them to lose their hair.

You Could Be Suffering From Trichotillomania

This disorder is so widespread that millions of people around the world are suffering from it.

But, although widespread and common, constant hair pulling is not a matter to be ignored. Obviously,

It is a potent cause of hair loss and it may even lead someone to get bald if not controlled. And, much to your surprise, there鈥檚 a name for that compulsive action 鈥?trichotillomania.
