Hair Loss?? |
I had my 2nd son 3 months ago. About 2 weeks ago, my hair started coming out in clumps! Every day, hair everywhere, I have to clean off my hairbrush at least twice, the shower is clogged every other day, and there is hair all over my clothes. Just running my fingers thru my hair makes hair come out. I did have some hair loss with my first son, but I don't remember if it was this bad. I haven't been regular about taking my vitamins, I've seen the Dr., and have to wait 2 weeks for the lab work results. I'm just freaking out, I don't want to go bald!! I'm only 25! Hair loss after pregnancy is common, due to hormone levels. It is called alopecia areata Which means baldness in spots. Also, you could develop a thyroid problem after the birth of a child. Please have a TSH run on your blood. If it is thyroid it can be treated with a pill. if it is just hormonal most of the time it will correct itself. If it gets considerably worst, you'll need to see a dermatologist. Per-natal pills causes your hair to thicken and grow, I bet your just loosing your "pregnancy" hair..... If it that bad, you need to see a doctor. Vitamin deficiencies can cause hair loss. Your body makes your hair really healthy when you're pregnant. Most women love pregnancy hair. You're taking multivitamins, eating right, there's an increased blood flow of circulation going throughout your whole body including the hair folicles. Then you have the baby and the circulation ends, most people stop their prenatals, they're tired, eating less, etc...... Pregnancy hair goes away back to pre-pregnancy but for 9 months we just get used to the great hair and miss it when it's gone. First of all...did you happen to have general anesthesia with the birth of your baby? A lot of women lose hair after general anesthesia. Second, a lot of women lose hair after giving birth, too. The sudden drop in hormones is the cause. Please talk to your doctor as he/she can do tests to determine the reason for this. Could be something as treatable as a thyroid condition or vitamin deficiency. Stress does play a major role in things of this nature, but you said your not really under any stress. My bet would be that after your body has had time to get back to completely normal your hair will grow back and stop falling out. I would take a multivitamin every day as well. Sure can't hurt.
