Splenda and Hair Loss??

For the past year I have had a headache every day, and I started loosing a lot of hair. I went to the doc for the hair and never for the headaches. Finally, I decided to try to be 'healthy' to get rid of the headaches. I realized that I started using Splenda about 1.5 years ago, when this all began.

So, I cut out Splenda and poof! headaches are gone! I am now thinking maybe the Splenda is related to the hair loss?? Here are my questions:

1. Has anyone experienced hair loss when using Splenda?
2. Does anyone know if I stop using Splenda if the hair should grow back? I read something on how Splenda affects and stays in you?? I don't know...

Thanks!

hello,

i didn't notice significant hair loss, but what i did experience was awful leg and hip pain from splenda. sounds weird, but i was having these hip and leg aches and did some research online and found a study that said splenda had disintegrated rats' legs. so i stopped using it and the pain stopped. hope this helps somewhat in establishing that splenda is not as great as it's cracked up to be.

wow i never heard of that and that is what i use...i wonder if it effects people just differently?...i'm the sensitive type and seem to get allergic or sensitive to medications all the time...but i've always had headaches too so I don't know what to say sorry...have you looked into anything further ..like ask a nutritionist about this or read anything in a medical website?....one last thing...are you sure it's not just a coincidence and you may have a thyroid problem....those are the same symptoms too?

I've been using Slenda for about 1.5 yrs also . I am sorry but I have never had headaches from this and I have not noticed any of my hair falling out.

that is really scary. i personally don't use splenda becuase all of the bad publicity it has gotten. if you lost your hair, sadly i doubt it will grow back. i hope i am wrong and you get your hair back though. good luck.

I've seen some stuff against Splenda, and some stuff for it. I, quite honestly, don't know which of it to believe. But, OTH, I don't trust ANY artificial sweeteners, so I don't use them anyway. Just do a search on Splenda(or "negative effects of Splenda"), and go from there. You might be surprised at what you will find. Your best bet would be to talk to your doctor, and see what he recommends.
