Hair loss problems at 13 years of age? |
I'm a 13 year old girl and have been encountering hair loss problems since beginning of this year. Eventually, I began to take action when I saw a bald spot slowly arising. I went to a professional and she said that my hair was in the resting phase and should eventually grow back to normal. However, I'm not certain of her conclusion. I'm worried that it may never be back to normal. During consultation, she said that the main problem might be because of a deficient diet which is true because I'm a strict vegan. I didn't choose to be one though, my body just happens to reject meat and seafood. Anyways, the doctor recommended me some hair and nails vitamins and have been taking them for 2 weeks now. Is this enough to make up for what I've not been eating or should I try to improve my diet? I'm quite devastated as this makes me feel sad and insecure. The doctor even said it was weird for a girl my age to be having this. Yeah that's too bad. But don't worry too much. It probably has to do with nutrient deficiency. But another reason could be stress. Have you felt stressed lately, other than fom the hair loss? If you are, confront those problems and try to finish problems. Find comfort in close friends or your family. By dealing with problems and finding support from people that are close with you can relieve stress and possibly help your hair. I never heard of rest mode. But I do believe that the medicine you take and the foods you eat or lack of can affect anything in your body. Try Shaklee.com (or .net) they have something for hair regrowth. Good luck. It's hard for girls to have this problem, hair is everything to them. I'm sure you know how to fashon your headbands or pony tails until this is better. I hope you get a second opinion. Because you are a strict Vegan, please have your B-12 monitored. This is very important!! the vitamins will help, it will take a few months for the hair to start growing back in,,,,,, i would check out some sites for vegetarian diets, to make sure you are getting a balance of everything you need, especially protien,,a vegetarian diet can be just as healthy as a meat diet, if not more so, but you do have to pay more attention to balance it,,,,,,,,,put vegetarian diet into any search engine, then look for balanced ones , since you have been to the dr, i would imagine that he did blood test to rule out anything else,,,, certain meds , low thyroid and other things can also cause hair loss,,,,, |
