Teen girl with hair loss? |
I'm 17 years old and my hair is falling out in big clumps. I am a type 1 diabetic but i have no thyroid problems whatsoever (just got tested). I use sunsilk anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner and dove extra hold hairspray. Are these factors to my hair loss? My hair even falls out when i don't wash my hair. I eat ok, maybe not as good as i should but i do eat veggies and fruit on a regular basis. I stay indoors, so the sun doesn't affect my hair. I'm not stressed. What the heck should i do? could it be a disease? teens lose their hair, too 鈥?and it may be a sign that something's going on. i had the same problem ive lost the hair on one side three times.the doctor said it was stress but i didnt feel stressed.he said that u wont feel it but your body tells you in other ways.i started taking flaxseed oil and applying olive oil twice a week .rub the olive oil into the roots of the hair gently leave as long as possible thro day.take the flax capsules.you can get them in any health shop.good luck I was losing hair in jr. high (many moons ago) and my mom took me to the doctor. They checked everything out and concluded that it was from pulling my hair back every single day for softball practice and games. Some people have weak hair follicles and when the scalp is stressed like that the follicles just give up basically. My mom had to start french braiding my hair everyday but it ended up being ok. If it is stress you may not feel stressed but the hair loss is your body's way of telling you that you are. My hair falls out now, but it's because I was diagnosed with Graves disease 2 years ago, but you said your thyroid is fine. The only other thing I can think of is your thyroid...if you are hypo thyroid sometimes you have hair thinning...but not really falling out in clumps. I think a trip to the dermatologist. Did you really actually have your thyroid tested, or did you have a pituitary hormone called TSH tested? If it was a TSH test, go back, and get your actual thyroid hormones tested. The tests you need are free T3 and free T4. |
