Plucking out hair??!?

Since from quite young, I have the habit of plucking out hair, eyebrow hair and eye lashes when they feel itchy. I feel comfortable after plucking them out, is that a disease???

Ahaha that is funny I sometimes pull a few hairs out of my eyebrows :\ I'm such a goober. I never really thought anything of it. I know sometimes they feel itchy so you pluck and there are a few lose hairs then I feel a little better.

I don't think it's a "disease" though.

Wow. I JUST asked that question. LOL.

There are a lot of good answers there as well.

I wish I knew the answer. I have wondered this as well as I've had a habit of doing this myself. Sorry I could not be of any help.

OCD!!!! I do it too. Obsess much. Dont pluck too much cuz eventually it wont grow back oending where you pick. ouch!!!

Its a psychological problem http://www.mindpub.com/art263.htm
check this link i think you have this problem its called
Trichotillomannia: The Disease of Hair Pulling
trust me my little cousin is just about bald cause she has this and my mom and my sister pick their eyebrows and i have a bad habit of picking at myself..medications work

More like a stress reducing compulsion. Hair plucking in children is a sign of a stressed child. It reduces the stress, so the feedback is positive- at least as far as the child is concerned it's better than whatever is stressing him/her. Since you have done this since you were young, that's probably what initially triggered it. You have kept the habit because it works for you. Not that it's a great stress reliever, there are much better one's out there and you really should try to find them. Disease it isn't, unless you pluck until it's noticeable or it becomes a problem for you. As psych problems go, it's way down on the list. A good therapist could help you redirect the energy into more positive ways and teach you better stress reduction methods, but that is for you to decide.

I know of a girl that used to pull her hair out at night while she slept. It is a psychological diease, but I don't know the name of it. They put her on meds and she is good now.

is this related to ADHD and anxiety? I read in some internet that it is caused by deficient in magnesium.

Do a google search on magnesium deficiency.

Trichotillomania鈥攆ocal hair loss due to hair pulling, twisting, or teasing鈥攊s symptomatic of an obsessive-compulsive disorder.
