Lupus and your Hair?

My friend was recently diagnosed with Lupus. She's 16 and a fanatic about her hair! It was so pretty, but she had major issues with dying it every chance she could so it was already amazingly thin. Now, if you gather all of her hair, it's as thick as my bangs.

Anyone dealing with this, possibly offer some ideas to help her feel better, chat rooms to go to for her to talk, anything dealing with this disease.

The loss of hair is common with anyone with a constant low-grade fever, as is common with SLE patients. What might make your friend more comfortable is that, when she can get into at least a remissive state, where the fever goes away, it is most likely the hair will grow back fully.

Lupus is an Auto immune disorder. One of the symptoms is hair loss.

I have auto immune disorder also and the hair shedding is a real aggravation. Try to discourage her from coloring and doing anything harmful to her hair. It will only make it worse.

Once she is on a medication to improve the situation the hair should stabilize.

sorry to hear about your friend unfortunately hair lose our thinning is a cause of lupus. some women have worn wigs or had injections put into their scalp by dermatologist. vitamen E is great for hair.
