Combining menopause hrt therapy with herbs? |
Is it safe to combine hrt(estrace and progeston) prescribed by my doctor with an over the counter combination vitamin with menopause herbs that contain black kohosh and red clover. I have been on the hrt therapy with my MD for approx 2 weeks with very little change in my symptoms and thought I would ad this vitaman/herb combo with it. I think you need to give more time for the hormone therapy to be effective. You won't find a definite answer as you saw when you searched and the reason is that very little research has been done to find out how herbs affect the drugs one takes. They know now the St.John's Wart is dangerous, they know of other herbs that might prevent the medication one takes to be effective, so I advise you to wait awhile. Let the HRT therapy first work for you, I would advise you to wait even a few month, maybe go back to your doctor and complain that the HRT does not work (but after you waited as I said) and see what he or she have to say. Don't mix anything you are not sure about. |

I know an implant is... yes it can also increase other risk, including heart attack, stroke, breast cancer and more, talk to your doctor about risk and alternatives ! ...Yes. Many women get menopausal symptoms like hot flushes and mood swings during the perimenopause (when periods start to become erratic and finally stop) but some women, like yourself, can develop ... The problem of taking HRT if you have a family history of cancer is very tricky. There is a big scare about HRT as you know and many women quit. I myself have not quit and several of my friends did... Here I go with the thyroid again but it does play a major role in menopause. It acts like a cranky little thermostat and is the cause of our nuclear hot flashes in the middle of the night...whew!! ... YES!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you taking synthetic estrogen? Yikes!!!
