Hpv (warts) kinda question?

from what i understand any type of wart is hpv( i could be wrong) but so before i was sexually active i had a wart ( was like 5 or something) but it has since gone away but does that mean i have hpv....i don;t really understand hpv i thought it was a sdi and everytype of wart was hpv..so how can a person who is not sexually active get a wart (hpv)??

HPV is a virus. It causes warts. I am pretty sure that all warts are caused by HPV. There are many, many types of HPV. The kinds that are sexually transmitted are called genital warts, and another called cervical dysplasia, which causes growths on your uterus. I'm not sure how you get the other types of warts but like I said I'm almost positive that all warts are caused by some type of HPV. You will only get symptoms depending on what type you have been exposed to, so you dont have to worry about having the HPV that causes cervical dysplasia(the HPV they have the vaccine for, that causes cancer), or genital warts, which is sexually transmitted, if you've had a wart on your hand.

Yes, all warts are caused by HPV. Not all kinds of HPV are sexuallyy transmitted though. There are about 120 different kinds of HPV, and about 30 of those kinds are sexually transmitted.

Genital HPV is responsible for genital warts, cervical cancer, and other RARE kinds of cancer (penile and anal).

Non sexually transmitted kinds of HPV are responsible for warts on the fingers, hands, knees, feet, elbows, etc.

Take care!
