Hpv-ascus.? |
Back in Jan had a pap, came back ASCUS bu neg for HPV ha another pap 8/12/07 this one came back ASCUS-HPV pos. I am confused, how is neg then pos? I have to have Colocospy and I am scared...please help if this has happened to you. Would the Dr. had moved quicker if it were a really bad strain of HPV? I don't know the level of HPV I was just told HPV-ASCUS pos , I need help to ease my mind I have my Colpo 9/24/07. Has this happened to anyone? it is really not as big of a deal as you are turning this into. if you were hpv pos in januaury you would have had colpo then. as a matter of fact, the doctor already moved a little quickly because the recommendation in this case would be to wait one year for the next pap as long as all previous paps had been normal. your doc only waited 7 months to repap and retest, so you are being evaluated a little earlier than most would be. dont worry so much, it really is not that big of a deal, you wont have cancer this early and the bottom line is-what are you going to do anyway? there is no cure for hpv, all you can do is wait and see it is going to cause you any problems or not It's possible that you contracted HPV in between the two paps, but it's also possible it just didn't show up. Ask your doctor to clarify your status...given the information you provided it's likely that you have a high-risk HPV strain. It sounds scary but it's very common. The colposcopy will just allow your doctor to examine affected areas of your cervix more closely and determine further treatment. He/she may just want to wait it out and do another pap in a couple of months, or, depending on what's observed, may recommend cryotherapy or LEEP (freezing and laser treatment, respectively) to get rid of abnormal cells. I know it's really scary, I've been through it too. You will be ok. The colpo is awkward but just remember it's for your benefit. Try to relax as much as you can. Incubation Period of genital warts: Anywhere from one month to several years. Changes associated with HPV has taken place immediately before 8/12/2007. |
