What is a doctor referral? what does it look like? does it vary from doctor to doctor or from HMO to HMO? |
i will be designing a patient portal wherein patients can request doctor referral online? i need to know what information are contained in a doctor referral. is it unique from one clinic to the other? or does HMO's dictate the format of a doctor referral. Once created, does a patient pick it up in the clinic or the doctor forwards it to the referred doctor and HMO. sorry, im not familiar with the process. could anyone explain how the process works? I've never done it online. But if your primary doctor wants you to see a specialist, you wait until that specialist's nurse calls you to set up the appt. That's how HPN's HMO does it. |
