How are HMO's paid ?

In louisiana my wife had Tenent 65,peoples health net work we paid no exter monies I was told that $90.50 was taken out of her social security check each month for medicaid insurance.she paid a duductible of $10 for DR. and $5 for Rx. Now that we live in Alaska we pay $157 per month medical and $26.50 for Rx and still have to pay a deductible on the meds . so who gets the $90.50 ? I am totaly confused !

People don't pay for Medicaid, but they do have money taken out of Social Security for Medicare. Did she have a Medicare HMO instead? Those can cost more, or less, depending on which company you go with. Some people with lower income can qualify for Medicaid to pick up what Medicare doesn't cover, and can even help with the monthly payment for the insurance. Call your local hospital to get the phone number of someone who can help you decide which HMO is best for your situation.
