What does HMO mean in the American Medical field? |
I have heard this in the movies - I think it may refer to a type of doctor? HMO = Health Maintenance Organization It means take all your money and give you sh*tty healthcare.... It stands for Health Maintenance Organization, a form of medical insurance. Health Management Organization or Health Maintenance Organization I think it stands for "HORRIBLE MEDICAL ORGANIZATION" or something like that.... It stands for Health Maintenance Organization. Basically it is a primary care doctor that is a "gatekeeper" before you get sent to a specialist. The primary care doc is supposed to do all he/she can before sending you to a specialist to keep costs down. |
